“Having the blessing in our own languages, with both families there, is the moment we keep coming back to.” — Hana, Osaka
Hana and Kenji travelled from Osaka with eighteen guests, two families meeting for the first time in a jungle garden in Ubud. They wanted a wedding that honoured Bali’s culture as much as their own, intimate and green and unhurried.
We chose a riverside garden wrapped in foliage, with the sound of the water beneath the ceremony. A local priest led a traditional Balinese blessing alongside the couple’s own vows, threading frangipani and holy water through the day. Our lead planner, who speaks Japanese, guided both families through every moment so no one felt lost in translation.
“Having the blessing in our own languages, with both families there, is the moment we keep coming back to,” Hana said. “It was small and quiet and completely ours. Sekar understood exactly what we wanted without us having to explain it twice.”
